Multilanguage

The Multilanguage feature allows you to manage and publish your release notes for a diverse, multilingual audience effectively.

Configuration

In the Release Notes for DevOps Hub, navigate to Multilanguage. Here you will find the following options:

  • Activate Multilanguage: Enable this feature to use the Multilanguage functionality in Release Notes for DevOps.
⚠️ Note: If you deactivate Multilanguage after enabling it, previously saved release notes with language references will not be displayed until Multilanguage is reactivated.

  • Activate Automatic Translation: Enable this option to allow automatic translation of release notes into all supported languages after clicking "Save & Translate." This feature uses OpenAI. Ensure that the OpenAI feature is activated and authenticated in the OpenAI settings.

  • Default Language: Set the default language for release notes. This language will be automatically selected when you create or edit a release note.
⚠️ Note: This field must be filled to activate the Multilanguage feature.

  • Default Language for Old Items: Specify the default language for release notes saved without a language reference (i.e., those created before the Multilanguage feature was activated).

  • Supported Languages: Define the languages supported in your release notes. To add a language, click Add Language and select the desired language.
⚠️ Note: A minimum of two languages must be specified.

How To Use

After activating Multilanguage, you will find a dropdown menu in the Release Note Tab to switch between the supported languages. This allows you to write and edit text for each language by selecting it from the dropdown.

Within a Release Note Entry, the supported languages dropdown is located next to the Save button. Use it to select the language for the entire entry. You can preview the entry in the selected language and export it as needed.

Automate the Process

To streamline the process, enable the Activate Automatic Translation option. This will introduce a new action, Save & Translate, which automatically translates the written text into all supported languages. OpenAi translate also item-specific placeholders if they have been specified in the configuration.

Additionally, you can use the OpenAI chat panel's translate auto command to trigger automatic translation without saving.

Tips

If you’ve activated Multilanguage but do not see any changes, ensure the following:

  • A minimum of two supported languages is defined.
  • The Default Language field is completed.
