Setting up CRM Integration

Document Central offers a predefined integration with the CRM module of Business Central. This CRM integration can automatically create interaction log entries for contacts, triggered by various actions within Document Central, such as filing via drag & drop or uploading via the archive queue. The metadata contact number serves as the key connection element.

The interaction log is a feature within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, used by Document Central to efficiently record and trace document uploads made by users. This feature provides administrators with a powerful tool to gain insights into activities occurring in their environment. By recording user interactions such as uploads, administrators can monitor and trace these interactions, enhancing transparency and facilitating more efficient management of business processes and data.

To activate the CMR integration, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate through the Document Central - Administrator role center.
  2. Click on Setup in the ribbon bar and execute the action Module Setup.
  3. Open the CRM tab.
  4. Activate the CRM Active checkbox.
  5. The individual triggers are set up with the standard templates when the CRM feature is activated.
  6. The CRM integration is now activated and configured.

Info

Standard templates for the interaction log are created when the CRM integration is activated. It is also possible to define individual templates. The interaction log templates need to be created in advance.

Define CRM metadata in mapping

The predefined triggers apply when the CRM integration is activated. An interaction template list can be defined using CRM metadata mapping. This list of stored interaction templates is then displayed during the drag & drop process to the metadata.

To map the CRM integration to metadata, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate through the Document Central - Administrator role center.
  2. Click on Repository in the ribbon bar and execute the action Metadata Management.
  3. Activate the CRM Field checkbox for the metadata to be mapped with the CRM function.
  4. The CRM Templates setup is displayed in the area below.
  5. Select the interaction templates which should be displayed in the Value field.
  6. The CRM integration is now set to a metadata.

Note

An interaction template can be defined with the checkboxes as a default value, as a fixed value or for the silent drop as a default value.

Possibility to Revise the Interaction Log Beforehand

  1. Navigate through the Document Central - Administrator role center.
  2. Click on Mapping in the ribbon bar and execute the action Mappings.
  3. Select and open the mapping where the uploads should be tracked.
  4. Open the CRM Configuration tab.
  5. Activate the Open Interaction Log entry checkbox.
  6. The interaction log entry will now be opend for this mapping area.

Note

To use this feature in multiple areas, it must be enabled individually for each mapping.
