Business Portals Glossary

This glossary helps you to securely understand the terminology of the Simova Business Portals. It is aimed at both new users who want to familiarize themselves with the basic terms and experienced users who need a brief and precise reference. The terms and definitions are based on the functions and processes of the Business Portals and help to better understand relationships as well as ensure consistent and clear communication.

Business Portals Extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Portal Central web-based user interface of the Business Portals for providing and using functions and modules depending on configuration and permissions.
Module Setup Configuration area of a module for customizing behavior and functions.
User Portal user with a defined User ID, role, and language, who accesses dashboards, records, and actions through Business Portals. Permissions and additional functions are configured per user.
Web User Portal access for customers or external users. Web users log into the Business Portal and work with the dashboards, forms, and data that are made available to them.
User Group Collection of multiple users with identical settings or permissions.
Role Center Entry point in Business Central through which functions of the Business Portals are accessed.
Tile Graphical display of key figures or status information in the Role Center.
Task Queue Background process for time-controlled or automatic execution of portal actions.
Configuration Totality of all settings for customizing the Business Portals to business processes.
Web Portal Browser-based interface of the Business Portals through which users access configured dashboards and data.
Mobile App Mobile view of the Business Portals with a limited, customized representation of dataset contents.
Label Translatable text block displayed in the Business Portal for fields, buttons, or content.
Language Code Code for identifying a language, e.g., ENU or DEU.
Language Configuration Definition of the languages available in the Business Portal that can be used for labels.
Standard Label, Fill with Standard Label Predefined label for frequently used fields, actions, and system texts. Action to adopt the standard labels into a dataset.
Labels with Overlength Extended labels for longer texts or formatted content that exceed the standard length.
Text Editor Input mask for maintaining labels with overlength including formatting options.
Dataset Configuration unit that determines which labels and content are used in the portal.
Build Action for providing and installing the portal packages on the target system.
Build (Auto) Automated execution of all build and installation steps for a portal.
App Service Plan Azure resource that provides computing power and scaling settings for app services.
OAuth2 Authentication standard for modern Business Central environments.
Dashboard Central entry page in the web portal through which content and navigation options are provided for users. A dashboard can be connected to a dataset table.
Dataset Configurable data structure in the portal based on a Business Central table. It defines the used table, visible fields, as well as display and representation options and can be represented through a dashboard.
Dashboard Configuration Setup of rows and elements for structuring and displaying a dashboard.
Row Structural element of a dashboard that contains elements or further rows and defines the layout.
Element Interactive component of a dashboard that enables user navigation or data display.
Indentation Hierarchical level of rows or elements that determines their superior or subordinate arrangement.
Column Span Determines how many of the 12 available columns a row occupies.
Column Offset Determines the horizontal distance of a row from the left edge of the dashboard.
Ticket System Integrated system for managing requests, communication, and support processes in the Business Portal.
Ticket Setup Central configuration page for setting up and controlling the ticket system.
Popup Additional information displayed based on ticket data.
Popup Code Unique key for identifying a popup.
Upload Settings Configuration for controlling the maximum file size for uploads in the portal.
Ticket Participant Users involved in a ticket.
Ticket Status Current state of a ticket (e.g., New, Open, Closed).
Ticket Type Classification of a ticket by purpose or content (e.g., Question, Problem).
Interaction History Record of all actions and communication within a ticket.
Ticket Overview Overview of all tickets in the system or for a specific user.
Message History Chronological representation of all messages within a ticket.
Ticket History Complete history of a ticket including status changes and actions.
Paper Airplane Icon UI symbol for creating a new ticket in the portal.
