Setting Up Popups

Pop-ups are used to present multiple related pieces of information clearly in their own area. By displaying the information together, users gain a clear, structured overview of relevant data without having to switch between different pages or sections. The content of a pop-up can vary, but the function remains the same: information is presented in a centralized, compact, and easily accessible manner.

Follow these steps to set up a popup:

  1. Start as a Business Portals Administrator.
  2. Open Popups by clicking on Portal Setup and then on Popup.
  3. Create a new popup by clicking on +New.
  4. Choose a unique code for your popup, e.g., based on the area in which it will be used.
  5. Optionally, you can select a Caption. This caption will also be displayed in the popup area.
  6. Select a Table No. from which the information for your popup should come. The table of the popup and the dataset table must be identical.
  7. You can display additional information using a Row Separator. To do this, fill in the One-Row-Separator field with an appropriate separator, e.g., “,” (comma).
  8. Navigate to the Rows section.
  9. In this section, select the information that should be displayed together in one section.
  10. Click on Field and then on the three dots. You will see a selection of all available fields from the previously selected table.

Assigning a Popup to a Dataset

After the popup has been fully configured, the next step is to assign it to a dataset. Only by linking it to a dataset can the popup be used and displayed in the system.

Follow these steps to assign the popup to a dataset:

  1. Start as a Business Portals Administrator.
  2. Open the Datasets by clicking on Portal Setup and then on Dataset.
  3. Select the dataset in which the popup should be added.
  4. Navigate to the Dataset Table Code section in the dataset.
  5. Select the Dataset Table Code and click on Custom Fields in the menu bar.
  6. The Dataset Table Code will be automatically filled in.
  7. Under Description, choose a label for the bundled information, or alternatively, create a new description.
  8. Under Popup Code, you can select your newly created popup code. Important: The Table No. of the popup and the Dataset Table Code must match.
  9. Close the page again.
  10. Now open the Detail Layout in the menu bar.
  11. The newly assigned popup will be displayed to you as a red line. By adding it to a Collapse or Group, you can set the position of the popup.
  12. Publish your portal to save the changes.
