Module Setup
The Phone Connect Module Setup is the central place to configure all core functionalities of Phone Connect. Access to this area is restricted to users with the permissions SIM_CTI Admin or SUPER.
General
Interface Selection
Phone Connect supports two different telephony interfaces:
| Interface | Description |
|---|---|
| TAPI | Enables integration with telephony systems via the Telephony API. |
| Teams | Provides seamless telephony integration within Microsoft Teams. |
Choose the interface that matches your telephony infrastructure and integration requirements.
Prefix Configuration
In this section, you define how Phone Connect handles prefixes used by your telephone system.
Many systems require a leading digit or code to access an external line (trunk line). Since this prefix is not part of the actual phone number, it can be configured here to ensure that only relevant numbers are displayed and processed.
Warning
Configuration details may vary depending on your telephone system. If you are unsure, contact your telephony provider or system administrator.
Info
A trunk line represents the connection between your internal phone system and the public telephone network. Prefixes are commonly used to distinguish between internal and external calls.
Incoming Prefix
Some telephone systems automatically prepend a prefix (commonly "0") to incoming numbers. This prefix can be removed for cleaner processing and display.
Setup steps:
- Open the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Navigate to Setup - Module Setup.
- Go to the General section.
- Enter the prefix (for example,
0) in the Incoming Prefix field. - Execute the Trim Phone Numbers action.
- The prefix will be removed from incoming numbers.
Outgoing Prefix
The outgoing prefix is used to access external lines when making calls. For example, many systems require dialing "0" before the actual phone number.
Setup steps:
- Open the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Navigate to Setup - Module Setup.
- Go to the General section.
- Enter the prefix (for example,
0) in the Outgoing Prefix field. - Execute the Trim Phone Numbers action.
- The prefix will be removed from outgoing numbers.
Country Code and Area Code
To standardize number formatting, define the country code and area code.
For example:
- Germany:
0049
After configuration, Phone Connect can normalize and simplify phone number handling.
Setup steps:
- Open the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Navigate to Setup - Module Setup.
- Go to the General section.
- Enter values in Country Code and/or Area Code.
- Execute the Trim Phone Numbers action.
- Configured codes will no longer be displayed in processed numbers.
Internal Calls
The Numbers for Internal Calls field defines how Phone Connect identifies internal extensions.
Numbers with a digit length equal to or shorter than the configured value are treated as internal calls.
Info
Phone Connect evaluates numbers from right to left and compares the digit length with the configured value.
Setup steps:
- Open the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Navigate to Setup - Module Setup.
- Go to the General section.
- Enter the maximum digit length for internal numbers in Numbers for Internal Calls.
Additional options:
-
Search for Internal Call in Database
Opens the corresponding contact card for internal calls. -
Exclude Internal Calls from Database
Prevents any contact card from opening for internal calls.
Warning
If the configured digit length is too high, external numbers may be incorrectly classified as internal calls.
Check Person Contacts for Company Phone No.
This setting enables an extended lookup across related contact records.
Use case:
If multiple person contacts exist alongside a company contact, and the company phone number is stored at customer level while the business mapping prioritizes the customer, this setting controls which record is opened.
-
Enabled
Incoming calls will open the customer (company) card. -
Disabled
The system will open the person contact card linked to the number.
This is particularly useful when interactions should consistently be handled at company level rather than per individual contact.
CRM Integration
Phone Connect provides a CRM Integration for logging interactions.
When enabled, incoming and outgoing calls are automatically recorded as interaction logs, ensuring full traceability of communication activities.
App Registration
The App Registration tab shows whether the app registration is correctly configured.
An App Registration is mandatory when using Phone Connect in Microsoft Teams.
Recall Requests
In this section, recall requests for sales offers can be activated.
When enabled:
- A callback request is automatically created when a sales offer is generated.
- The callback date is set to the due date of the sales offer.
This ensures consistent and timely follow-ups in the sales process.
Guidlines
Here, call guidlines can be configured.
Testing
Debug Mode
In the Testing tab, you can enable Debug Mode.
When enabled:
- Debug logs are available on the Phone Connect - Debug Logs page
- This helps identify and analyze issues in your Business Central environment
Phone Number Test
This tool allows you to verify whether Phone Connect is configured correctly.
You can:
- Enter a phone number
- See how Phone Connect processes and trims it
This helps ensure that prefixes, country codes, and formatting rules are correctly applied.
