More reliable previews, retention controls and document synchronization
Improve retention correction, document previews and synchronization, preserve archived report versions, and extend document handling through a public AL interface.
Smaller improvements
Description:
Updated Document Entry Synchronization to automatically create ECSPAND version entries locally based on the version count of the synchronized document. Instead of retrieving historical version information from the repository API, the required version entries are generated directly in Business Central.
Impact:
ECSPAND document version histories can now be synchronized.
Description: Added an administrative option to archive each version of a report as a separate file, preventing existing archived audit documents from being overwritten.
Impact: Users can retain a complete version history of archived reports, improving auditability and document integrity.
Description:
A public AL function is now available in the Codeunit "Document Entry Functions" for extensions that need to delete an Document Central Document Entry. DeleteDocumentEntry validates that the entry exists and belongs to the currently selected repository, then delegates deletion to the standard Document Central flow.
Impact:
Extensions can use the standard deletion behavior, including its retention and version-retention checks, confirmation, access control, and logging. The function returns a Boolean result to the caller. Execute permission is included in the SIM_DMS ADMIN and SIM_DMS USER permission sets.
Description:
Added a Retention Label Correction workflow. Users can collect eligible Document Entries, recalculate their retention labels, and correct SharePoint retention properties. Processing runs in the background and records progress and errors for each entry
Impact:
Administrators can find and repair retention inconsistencies, track failed corrections, and retry them.
Description:
Retention Definition validation now allows the same metadata field to be used in multiple Retention Definition configurations. Conflicts with a different metadata field are still reported by its display name.
Impact:
A metadata field can be reused for multiple Retention Definitions without being blocked as a duplicate.
Fixed and improved
Description: Added an option to update Document No. values when documents with the same filename and document number are uploaded to separate SharePoint record folders, enabling Document Entry Synchronization to proceed.
Impact: Users can resolve duplicate Document Entry conflicts by updating the Document No. values, allowing synchronization to complete successfully.
Description: Fixed an issue where replacing a deleted document with another file using the same filename displayed the previously deleted file’s content in the Data Grid Preview due to caching.
Impact: The Data Grid Preview now displays the content of the newly uploaded file immediately, without requiring a hard page refresh.
Description: Fixed an issue in Document Central where removing a document from the datagrid did not immediately remove its entry when the “Remove File Extension” setting was configured. The entry now updates correctly after using the “Remove” action.
Impact: Users can remove documents reliably without needing to run “Synchronize” or refresh the datagrid.
Description: Fixed a permission error that occurred when a SharePoint document was changed to use the .ecspdf extension. Updating the corresponding Document Entry Version record in Document Central now uses the appropriate permission context.
Impact: Users can preview and access documents after their SharePoint file information is updated without encountering a permission error.
Description:
A bug could leave SharePoint documents deletable even when their retention label was configured to retain the item or mark it as a regulatory record. The SharePoint deletion block was not always set correctly.
Impact:
Eligible documents can now be corrected so the SharePoint deletion block matches their retention label settings. The original label application time is preserved.

Existing Document Entries are not corrected automatically. To find and correct affected entries:
1. Open The Check Retention Label Page
2. Select the Mode to Correct Document Entries
3. Use the Pull Entries Action.
4. After the Pull, Use the Process Entries Action
