In Business Central Version 18 Microsoft added the “Document layouts” on the customer and vendor level.

Document layout usage for EDS

If there are document layouts for the document layout set up, then the report layouts can be used for EDS. This works on different levels, since the custom report layouts have different features:

Usage of the custom report layout as a standard:

In case there is a custom report layout setup as the Business Central standard, it will be automatically used for any EDS sending of the respective report.

Usage of the custom report layout defined per master data:

If custom report layouts have been set up on the master data level (customer/vendor/Own custom report layout table), they will be automatically used for any EDS sending of the respective reports.

In case multiple lines for the same report identifier are defined on the master data level, the EDS sending will be triggered per different report layout.

The Dispatch Profile Custom Report Layout Setup will describe on what basis the sending will be triggered and how multiple layouts configured will be packaged for the sending.

Please note that in most use cases, multiple lines for custom report layouts based on the same report will not be a used scenario. This is mostly only the case if email addresses from that area are utilized.

Usage of the custom report layout email adresses defined per master data:

If there are email adresses defined in the document layouts, the sending will not utilize those from the start. This has to be activated first in the Dispatch Profile Custom Report Layout Setup.

Based on the configuration, the sending will be triggered using the defined email addresses. The Dispatch Profile Custom Report Layout Setup will also describe when which email addresses will be utilized and how the sending of multiple reports from the same area will be bundled.
