Azure Blob Storage Migration

DMS by Simova supports data migration from SharePoint repository to Azure Blob Storage repository.

Migrating from Sharepoint to Azure Blob Storage.

  1. Ensure that both repository are created and fully configured in DMS - Repository Definition.
  2. Ensure that the currently active repository is the SharePoint repository.
  3. Ensure that a user is authenticated to the SharePoint repository.
  4. Navigate to DMS - Module Setup and use the Update Repository action button, to ensure all of the Content Type, Metadata, and Document Library are synced between DMS by Simova (Business Central) and SharePoint.
  5. Navigate to DMS - Document Entries Synchronization and Synchronize all the document entries.
  6. Navigate to DMS - Repository Definition and select the Azure Blob Storage repository, where the documents will be moved to.
  7. A confirmation dialog will appear to ask, if the user wants to migrate the documents.
  8. Click on yes, then the migration wizard will be opened.
  9. In the migration wizard, Click on Begin.
  10. Choose a User that will be used for the migration process. The user must be authenticated, and this user credentials will be used to fetch the documents from SharePoint.
  11. Choose whether the previous entries should be deleted or not.

Warning

Deleting previous entries, will delete all the documents in DMS - Document Entries and SharePoint.

  1. Ensure that the Migrated from and Migrated to are correct.
  2. Click on Finish, to finish the migration wizard.

Info

The migration will be proccessed in the background. Please note that the duration of the migration process depends on how many documents are there in SharePoint and how big the documents are.
