Setting up Azure Blob Storage Access Tier

DMS by Simova provides the possibility to change the access tier of the document(blob) upon uploading, when using the Azure Blob Storage repository. There are some ways to change the blob access tier for Azure Blob Storage in DMS.

Setting via Document Library

The following steps are needed to set a blob access tier in DMS via the DMS - Document Library.

  1. Navigate to DMS - Document Library.
  2. The field Azure Blob Access Tier can be changed to the either Hot, Cool, or Archive.
  3. Setting this field with a value, will set the blob access tier for the chosen Document Library to use the chosen access tier upon uploading.
  4. Leaving the field empty, will make Azure Blob Storage using its default storage account settings for the blob access tier upon uploading.

Setting via Content Type

The following steps are needed to set a blob access tier in DMS via the DMS - Content Type.

  1. Navigate to DMS - Content Type List.
  2. Choose a Content Type and press the Edit action button.
  3. The field Azure Blob Access Tier can be changed to the either Hot, Cool, or Archive.
  4. Setting this field with a value, will set the blob access tier for the chosen Content Type to use the chosen access tier upon uploading.
  5. Leaving the field empty, will make Azure Blob Storage using its default storage account settings for the blob access tier upon uploading.

Info

Changing the blob access tier in the content type will override the blob access tier settings, which is set in the DMS - Document Library. The changes will only be applied to the selected content type.

Setting via Content Types in a specific Document Library

The following steps are needed to set a blob access tier in DMS via the DMS - Document Library, for a selected Content Type.

  1. Navigate to DMS - Document Library.
  2. The Content Types section will show all the list of the content types that are set for the chosen Document Library.
  3. Choose a Content Type.
  4. The field Azure Blob Access Tier in the same line with the chosen Content Type can be changed to the either Hot, Cool, or Archive.
  5. Setting this field with a value, will set the blob access tier for the chosen Content Type for this Document Library to use the chosen access tier upon uploading.
  6. Leaving the field empty, will make Azure Blob Storage using its default storage account settings for the blob access tier upon uploading.

Info

Changing the blob access tier in the content types list from a specific document library, will override all other blob access tier settings applied in the DMS - Content Type Card and the main Azure Blob Access Tiersetting for the DMS - Document Library. The changes will only be applied to the selected content type, in the chosen document library.

The following steps are needed to enable manual selection of Azure Blob Access Tier upon uploading.

  1. Navigate to DMS - Module Setup.
  2. In the Azure Blob Storage section turn the Azure Blob Custom Access Tier setting on.

Manually selecting the Azure Blob Access Tier

Enabling the Azure Blob Custom Access Tier in the module setup, allows the user to change the Blob Access Tier in the DMS - Document Definition card, which is shown when uploading a document with DMS Dropzone.

  1. The field Azure Blob Access Tier in the same line with the chosen Content Type can be changed to the either Hot, Cool, or Archive.
  2. Setting this field with a value, will set the blob access tier for the document. This field might be prefilled if the Blob Access Tier in the DMS - Document Library or the DMS - Content Type Card are configured.
  3. Leaving the field empty, will make Azure Blob Storage using its default storage account settings for the blob access tier upon uploading.
