Master Data Creation

The Smart Master Data Creation feature enhances Smart Processing by allowing the creation of missing master data directly during document processing. Instead of having to manually create new records (e.g., customers, suppliers, items) in Business Central, the system supports users with intelligent suggestions and automatic templates.
Purpose and Benefits
- Automatic replenishment of missing master data during processing.
- Time-saving: No interruption of the workflow due to manual entry.
- Error reduction: Data is suggested consistently and completely.
- Flexible: Fields can be supplemented or adjusted before creation.
Prerequisites
- A Process Template Field with Lookup Validation enabled.
- The option Allow Smart Master Data Creation activated on this field.
How It Works

Check Draft Page When processing a document, a Draft Page is generated. If, for example, a customer is missing in your system, a note appears at the bottom.

Open Note Click on the note where the option Smart Master Data Creation is available.

Start Action In the List Part, you will find the action Create Data.

Review Template The system automatically creates an intelligent template of the record. You can adjust fields, add new ones, or remove unnecessary ones.

Generate Record Click on Create to create the record.

For master data types such as Vendor, Customer, Employee, Item, the associated Template Query will also open.

There, you can enrich the record with default values from the templates or cancel the step.

Review the Record After creation, the Detail Page of the new record opens. Check the data, close the page, and return to the draft.

Continue Process The note automatically disappears as the record now exists in the system.
Best Practices
- Activate Smart Master Data Creation only for fields where missing master data frequently occurs.
- Use Templates (Vendor, Customer, Item, Employee) to populate master data records with consistent default values.
- Always review the suggested data before final creation to avoid redundancies or duplicates.
