Migration Wizard

The Migration Wizard for Document Central – Document Capture enables the guided migration of existing attachments and data from legacy systems or previous versions to Document Central.
The wizard guides you step by step through the migration process and ensures that relevant data is transferred consistently and completely.

The Migration Wizard is implemented as a guided wizard and supports administrators in running migrations safely, transparently, and reproducibly.

Start migration

The Migration Wizard can be started from the corresponding administrator role in Business Central. Follow these steps to run a migration.

  1. Open the Document Central Administrator role.
  2. Click Migration in the menu bar.
  3. Run the Document Capture Migration action.
  4. The Migration Wizard opens and displays an introduction to the migration process.
  5. Click Next to start the wizard.

Select source

In the next step, the source of the data to be migrated is defined.

  1. Select the desired migration source (e.g., existing attachments or legacy data).
  2. Optionally, set filters or restrictions for the migration.
  3. Click Next to proceed to the overview.

Migration overview

The wizard displays an overview of the data to be migrated.

  1. Review the listed records.
  2. Individual data types or areas can be deselected if required.
  3. Click Next to start the migration.

Info

Depending on the amount of data, the migration may take some time. The process should not be interrupted while the migration is running.

Run migration

  1. The Migration Wizard starts transferring the data.
  2. Progress is displayed during the migration.
  3. After the migration is completed, a summary is displayed.

Complete migration

  1. Review the result overview.
  2. The migrated documents are displayed in a downloadable Excel file.
    In addition, possible warnings or errors are shown.
  3. Click Finish to close the Migration Wizard.

It is recommended to perform spot checks on the migrated data after the migration has been completed.
