Number transformation

Phone Connect give you the opportunity to transform phone numbers with special characters.

Configuration

The following steps need to be performed to transform phone numbers with special characters.

Open the Business Central client.
Navigate to the Phone Connect - Module Setup.
When you open the Phone Connect Setup for the first time, you will be asked if you want to set up your user account as Phone Connect Administrator.
Confirm the message with Yes.
After being registered as an administrator, you can navigate in the menu bar to Number substitution.
In the Number substitution page, you can enter the special characters that are to be transformed.
The left side will be used for the initial value and the right side for the conversion value.

Example

If the From value (left) is filled with + and the To value (right) is filled with 00, the phone number +49 123 456 will be transformed to 0049 123 456.
Phone Connect provides a default trim values for the transformation of phone numbers. You can use the Fill Default Trim Values action or create your own transformation setup. This will fill the Number substitution page with the default values which is normally sufficient for most number formatting configurations.
After finisihing the configuration, return to the Phone Connect - Module Setup and execute the function Trim Phone Numbers via the menu bar. This will apply the transformation to all phone numbers in the system.

Important

The "DEL" value is used to delete the character from the phone number.
Spaces will be deleted from the phone number automatically.
The number substitution configuration is also accessible through the Phone Connect - Setup Wizard.
If the number substitution configuration is not set up, the phone number will not be trimmed and might not be correctly processed by the Tray Application or the 3^rd party tool such as MS Teams or TAPI Software.
