Module Setup
In the Phone Connect module setup, the configuration of Phone Connect is carried out. This configuration can only be performed by users with the permissions SIM_CTI Admin or SUPER.
General
Interface Selection
In Phone Connect, you can choose between two interfaces:
| Interface | Description |
|---|---|
| TAPI | TAPI enables the integration of telephone systems via the Telephony API. |
| Teams | Microsoft Teams allows seamless integration of telephony functions within Teams. |
Prefix Configuration
In this section, the prefix that Phone Connect should use is configured. Many telephone systems require a leading code to use the trunk line. Since this code does not belong to the actual phone number, it can be hidden via the prefix, so that Phone Connect only displays the relevant number.
Warning
The configuration may vary depending on the telephone system. If in doubt, please contact your phone system support.
Info
The trunk line refers to the transition point between an internal telephone system and the public telephone network. External calls are made and received over this connection. Many telephone systems work with a leading code to distinguish between internal extensions and external numbers and to control the connection setup accordingly.
Incoming Prefix
In rare cases, the telephone system may add a leading zero (or another prefix) to the transmitted numbers. If this is the case with your telephone system, enter this number as the incoming prefix. A common example is "0".
Follow these steps to set up an incoming prefix:
- Start in the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Open the Module Setup by clicking on Setup and then on Module Setup.
- Navigate to the General section.
- Enter the number, usually a zero, in the Incoming Prefix field.
- Now perform the action Trim Phone Numbers in the module setup.
- This number will now be hidden for incoming calls.
Outgoing Prefix
The outgoing prefix in a telephone system is a special number or combination of numbers that is placed before the actual phone number to reach the trunk line. It is often used to distinguish between internal and external calls. In many companies, for example, "0" is used as an outgoing prefix to indicate that the call is going external.
Follow these steps to set up an outgoing prefix:
- Start in the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Open the Module Setup by clicking on Setup and then on Module Setup.
- Navigate to the General section.
- Enter the number, usually a zero, in the Outgoing Prefix field.
- Now perform the action Trim Phone Numbers in the module setup.
- This number will now be hidden for outgoing calls.
Country Code & Area Code
The country code and area code must be entered in the corresponding fields. For Germany, the country code 0049 is required. After entering the country and area codes, the phone numbers must be trimmed with the corresponding action.
Follow these steps to set up an outgoing prefix:
- Start in the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Open the Module Setup by clicking on Setup and then on Module Setup.
- Navigate to the General section.
- Enter the country or area code in the Country Code or Area Code field.
- Perform the action Trim Phone Numbers in the module setup.
- The country or area code will now no longer be displayed.
Internal Calls
With the Number for Internal Call field, it can be simulated that phone numbers that have the digit length specified in the field or are shorter than the specified digit length are recognized as internal calls.
Info
Phone Connect counts the digits from back to front and checks how many digits have been specified and whether they match the internal numbers.
Follow these steps to set the number of internal extensions:
- Start in the Phone Connect Admin Role Center.
- Open the Module Setup by clicking on Setup and then on Module Setup.
- Navigate to the General section.
-
Enter the number of digits that make up an internal phone number in the Numbers for Internal Calls field.
-
If the Search for Internal Call in Database field is enabled, the caller's contact card will open for an internal call.
- However, if the Exclude Internal Calls from Database field is enabled, no caller card will be displayed for internal calls.
Warning
It may happen that external calls are mistakenly recognized as internal calls if they have a digit length that is too high for internal calls.
CRM Integration
Phone Connect offers a CRM Integration that creates interaction logs for incoming and outgoing calls. This feature must be activated in the module setup to capture interaction logs.
App Registration
In the App Registration tab, it is displayed whether the app registration is correctly configured. An App Registration is mandatory for using Phone Connect in Microsoft Teams.
Callbacks
In the Callbacks tab, callback requests for sales offers can be activated. Once this option is enabled, a callback request is automatically generated when creating a sales offer. The callback date is automatically set to the due date of the sales offer.
Policies
Here, call policies can be configured.
