Setting Up Barcode Label Printing

In Document Central and Document Inbound, barcode labels enhance document management by enabling automated identification, categorization, and retrieval, thereby improving efficiency and reducing errors.

The barcode label printing feature enables the printing via a label printer and assignment of a barcode label to a specific document. When using the barcode assignment type within Document Inbound, external files containing the barcode can be automatically linked to the document to which the barcode is assigned.

To create and print any barcode label, you must set up and activate a few modules and fields in the barcode factbox. By default, these modules are disabled.

Setting Up the Barcode Label Printing

Follow these steps to set up barcode label printing:

  1. Navigate to Document Central - Mapping List.
  2. Mark the Mapping were you want to activate The barcode label printing for.
  3. Set the Number Series in the Barcode No. Series field .
  4. Enable the Barcode Label Printing field.

Setting Up The Barcode Label Size

Complete the following steps to set up the barcode label size:

The Report that is used for the barcode label printing contains multiple report layouts that change the size of the barcode label.

  1. Navigate to Document Central - Mapping List.
  2. Mark the Mapping were you want to change The barcode label size for.
  3. Enter the Barcode Label Layout field with the layout that corresponds to the size you want to use for the barcode label.

The Action Test Barcode Layout allowes you to test Print the barcode layout in order to see how it would turn out.

Setting up own Barcode Label Layout to change the size of the barcode label

It is possible to create your own barcode label layout to change the size of the barcode label. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Report layouts.
  2. Search for the Report ID 5673062.
  3. Download one of the existing layouts.
  4. Modify the layout to your needs.
  5. Upload the modified layout. for the Report ID 5673062.

Setting Up Automatic Pre-Selection

The automatic content type pre-selection feature streamlines the process by pre-selecting content types when creating and assigning barcodes. You can still change the content type during the process, even with automatic pre-selection set up.

Complete the following steps to set up automatic pre-selection of content types for barcode creation and assignment:

  1. Navigate to Document Central - Mapping List.
  2. Mark the Mapping were you want to activate The barcode label printing for.
  3. Select a content type in the Barcode Standard Selection field.
