Label Setup
The "Business Portals" module allows users to set up labels for the web portal. Labels are used to translate the web portal into the selected language. The label settings can be configured by the Business Central user.
The label languages are based on the configured languages in the language configuration of the Business Portals. To configure languages for the web portal, see Setting up languages.
Create New Label
A label can be created based on the language set up in the language configuration of the Business Portals. Follow these steps to create a new label:
- On the Role Center page of the Business Portals, click on Portal Setup in the ribbon.
- Navigate to Labels.
- Click the New button to create a new label.
- Fill in the Code field with a unique code for the label.
- Fill in the labels in the Lines section under the Code field. The Lines section contains the language codes of the configured language.
- Fill in all labels for each of the configured languages.
Example
If the language configuration is set to English and German, the language codes should automatically display both configured languages, such as ENU for English and DEU for German. The English label must be filled in for ENU and the German label for DEU. These labels will be displayed based on the language chosen by the user in the web portal.
Add Standard Label
Predefined standard labels are already available in the Business Portal, which can be used for commonly used fields, buttons, and system messages.
To add standard labels to your portal, follow these steps:
- Open the desired dataset via the Portal Setup menu.
- Click on the dataset to open it.
- In the Ribbon, select the Captions option to manually define the labels for the fields.
- Close the label page.
- Click on Action and then on Fill from Default Dataset.
- Reopen the label page.
- The fields should now be filled with the predefined standard labels.
Label with Extended Length
Certain necessary labels may exceed the standard length or the typical format that a text field supports. This can include detailed information, descriptions, or similar content that requires more flexibility than a standard text field can provide. To meet these requirements, Business Portals offers the ability to add such extended labels. The configuration process for extended labels is largely similar to that of standard labels.
To configure a label with extended length, follow these steps:
- On the Role Center page of the Business Portals, click on Portal Setup in the ribbon.
- Navigate to Extended Labels.
- On the Extended Labels page, a list of all required extended labels needed by the system will be displayed.
- Click on the comment field of the respective label and language to edit the extended label.
- A text editor will open to allow input of the extended label. The text editor offers additional formatting options such as bold, italic, underlined, and more.
- Close the text editor, and the extended label will be saved.
